How to use HQ Mod??? I'm so lost..

Hey guys can someone help me or give me steps to using the HQ Mod?? I read the original post for it and the instructions were confusing and there was so much that I eventually just ended up doing it wrong. Does anyone with the HQ Mod have a more condensed summary on how to make it work without all of my characters turning black?
