The Black Simmer

Hello,
I've noticed a strange issue since the Cats and Dogs patch in November.
All of my dead sims are now in household management under "unplayed households"

(I think this might be normal since EA has allowed us to control the max amount of sims in the game).

Now the buggy part is that long-dead sims are now appearing as alive (portrait is in color) on the family tree once they've been gone for a while:

Has anyone else had this issue? Have you had any success in fixing it?

I have MCC, wickedwhims,and basemental, all my mods are up to date. I started a new save after getting Cats and Dogs, and this still happened after playing for a while.
