I don't like Norton and prefer Kaspersky. I also use chrome and use the Ad Block Plus and Ad Block extensions. With all 3, I haven't gotten a virus.

Run mod conflictor http://modthesims.info/d/561550 see if it tells you that something is broken or accidentally have s3 cc
If nothing, move Sims 4 folder to desk top. Start game. Does it give you the error code?
If it does, repair game
If it doesn't, do the 50/50 method to figure out the cc that's causing the problem.
